POND’S Cold Cream Review: My 10-Day Results on Oily, Dehydrated Skin
If you’ve followed my channel for a while, you already know that I’ve always struggled with very oily yet dehydrated skin. It’s a frustrating combination that often feels impossible to balance. No matter how much water I drink or how many high-end skincare products I try, my skin tends to stay shiny, congested, and thirsty at the same time.
So when I decided to test out two very classic drugstore products from POND’S, I honestly didn’t expect much. What happened over the next 10 days completely surprised me.
Today I’m sharing my full experience using the POND’S Cold Cream Cleanser & Makeup Remover and the POND’S Dry Skin Cream Facial Moisturizer — both original formulas — and why they’ve earned a permanent place in my routine.
Why I Tried POND’S Cold Cream in the First Place
Back in December, I was gifted a spa voucher and decided to use it for a facial. At the time, my skin was the worst it had been in years. During my facial, the esthetician suggested I try a cold cream cleanser, especially during the winter months.
She specifically mentioned a Liz Earle cold cream-style cleanser, but after looking into it, I found it was difficult to get in Canada. That’s when I stumbled across POND’S, a brand I’d never personally used before.
After reading countless mixed reviews — people either love it or hate it — I decided to give it a fair, consistent test.
The Products I Tested
POND’S Cold Cream Cleanser & Makeup Remover
This is a thick, mineral-oil-based cleanser designed to remove makeup while cleansing the skin. It has a very classic scent that honestly reminds me of a “grandma’s bathroom” — but in a comforting, nostalgic way.
POND’S Dry Skin Cream Facial Moisturizer
This is a rich, heavy cream designed for dry skin, which initially made me nervous considering how oily my skin is.
For this test, I only used these two products — no toner, no serums, no exfoliants, and no acne treatments.
How I Used the POND’S Cold Cream
I massaged the cold cream onto dry skin and let it sit for about five minutes, even on days when I wore makeup. Then I removed it using a very warm to hot washcloth, gently wiping everything away.
Some people use this cleanser as a one-step routine, while others double cleanse with it. I mostly stuck to one cleanse and focused on thorough removal with a washcloth.
Notably, it removed heavy mascara incredibly well without irritating my eyes.
How I Used the POND’S Dry Skin Cream
At first, this moisturizer felt very heavy on my skin — almost like it was sitting on top. After a few days, I adjusted how I applied it:
I used a very small amount (about two peas total)
I applied it to slightly damp skin
That change made all the difference. It absorbed better, spread more easily, and didn’t feel greasy.
My 10-Day Results
1. My Pores Look Noticeably Smaller
I have genetically large pores, especially on my nose, and I normally rely on exfoliating acids and targeted serums to manage them. After 10 days of using only POND’S, my pores looked just as good - if not better - than when I use my usual high-end products.
I stopped using my Paula’s Choice BHA during this time and didn’t miss it at all, which says a lot.
2. My Skin Is Less Oily Than Ever
This was the most shocking result.
Despite using a dry skin cream, my face became more balanced and less oily than it’s been in years. I truly believe the moisturizer played the biggest role here. By properly hydrating my skin, it stopped overproducing oil.
If you have oily skin and are afraid of heavy creams, my advice is to:
Use it sparingly
Apply it at night
Apply to damp skin
3. Brighter, Smoother Skin Texture
Over the last several days of the test, I stopped using makeup primer entirely — something I never do. My skin was smoother, brighter, and more even, with far less visible texture.
I believe this is largely due to the gentle physical exfoliation that happens when you remove the cold cream with a warm washcloth morning and night. It keeps dead skin cells at bay and allows moisturizer to absorb more effectively.
Final Thoughts: Is POND’S Worth Trying?
After just 10 days, these products genuinely blew me away. I’ve spent far more money on high-end skincare products that promised the same results - and didn’t deliver.
POND’S proved to me that:
Simple routines can work
Affordable skincare can be effective
Oily skin still needs deep hydration
I plan to continue using these products exclusively for at least a full month and will share an updated post with longer-term results.
